Abstract Painting

How do painters get dynamic abstracts that work? In

this acrylic painting class you’ll learn color theory, color

combinations, and compositions of abstract paintings

while whirling, blotting, splashing, and splattering

paint all into one cohesive and vibrant abstract

painting. No prior experience is required. All levels are

welcome. You’ll leave the class with a finished abstract

Experimental Painting with Gouache

Have fun experimenting with methods for creating

paintings and playing with paint, while picking up new

skills along the way. We will build compositional skills

and explore primarily abstraction and formalism as a

means for personal expression and dynamic imagery.

We will use gouache or other water based paints (ink,

watercolor, or acrylic) to learn basic art concepts as

well as create exploratory abstract paintings. You will

gain greater understanding of art fundamentals such

as value, color, space, and form, and their application

within your artwork. While there will be lessons and

demonstrations incorporated, this class focuses

primarily on play and experimentation to generate

ideas and imagery.Please check the DAC website for

Painting Gone Wild (Ages 16 & up)

Have you ever wondered what it means to explore paint?

Have you ever just wanted to express yourself using color,

line, form and energy? Would you like to explore a range of

subject matter- say, abstract and landscape? Do all paintings

use only paint or can other tools like pencil and collage be

incorporated?Would you like to paint on a variety of surfaces?

If the answer to any of these questions is YES, then this is

the class for you! We will push the boundaries of painting

by exploring paint and any other additions you choose to

incorporate. This class is an open studio. The instructor will

meet with each student individually every week to support

you on your painting wild journey. Please check the DAC
